There are so many inks out there and some are good and some are superb. This is a small list of items I use but there’s always more to try out!

First up, for calligraphy, I use Yasutomo sumi ink because I love the way it looks. I also have one where it ends with a slight gold sheen. Otherwise, for big projects, I grind my own ink.

For my fun projects and just trying new pens, I love love walnut ink. I love that I can easily change consistency based on how much liquid I add to the crystals.

Dr. Ph Martin’s liquid acrylic is great for non-paper surface.

Dr. Ph Martin’s also makes these amazing white pen. It pops off the black paper so well.

For metallic color, I love finetic ink the most. I’ve tried the powder one but I find it flakes off. These stay pretty well.

I love Ziller ink but sometimes, it’s sealed so tight. This one popped and spilled everywhere. It’s a bit expensive for me but I do love that the colors are mixed already.

And finally, gouache paint diluted with water at a skim milk consistency makes the best ink for projects. It’s a great way to save money if you know how to mix colors.
